The decorators from Gyumri in France
Over the past 5 years, more than a dozen French ceramists have participated in these professionalization missions, with the aim of enhancing the skills of the Gyumri workshop. Today, they have decided to bring together Armenian decorators in a large artistic exchange project, including an artist residency and a sales exhibition in Villerest (Loire), organized in partnership with Terre de Potes and the D’argiles association, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
Thus, from June 30 to July 14, the team of decorators from Gyumri, consisting of Mher Hovhannisyan, Mariam Khachatryan, Narine Aleksanyan, and Ani Darchoyan, along with Mariam Poghosyan, the project coordinator in Hartashen, will be present in France.
During their residency, they will conduct introductory sessions on ceramic decoration and visit the workshops of partner ceramists to study their operations and enhance organizational practices in Armenia. They will be welcomed in Villerest (Loire) at the pottery workshop, ‘L’Antre aux Pots,’ owned by Marc Giroudon, where they will also create ceramics that will be exhibited on September 16 and 17, 2023, during the Villerest Pottery Market alongside other French ceramists
